Some texture for your Tuesday 🌀 texture & shape was inspired by a ceramicist I found, Jade Flowers. Also reminds me of the silk floss tree (Ceiba speciosa). Featuring some Matilija poppy (aka fried egg flower, Romneya coulter) • ||| • This piece revolves around the idea of dichotomies - things in opposition that inform each others distinction - destruction and growth, defensiveness and vulnerability, smooth and spiky, soft and hard. What else comes to mind? What would you name this piece?

Some line work for your Sunday ✍️💫🌿 which color background is your favorite? For me, something about the green background speaks to me - it’s giving pea soup & I’m kinda a fan 🫛💚

Flowy foliage | 16”x20” | I watched a video by artist David Choe about the artistic process and in it he said “I’m a human being, not a human doing” and it’s now stuck in my head. I’m trying to embrace the essence of being, while shifting expectations of productivity and associated anxiety of doing-ness. Creating has always been an outlet for me and a space for unadulterated feeling, but I do get in my head about it sometimes and I forget that the process is just as important as the result. So here’s some colorful musings that I released from my being. There’s something wonderful and daunting about creating, like here it is, a piece of me, a thing brought to life from me simply being me. ✨🎨

Portals of growth • 🌿❇️✨ • reflection, introspection, finding direction

New piece 💚🌿❇️ 14”x18” acrylic on stretched canvas | sold I infuse feelings into my art. Color to me, holds and portrays emotions. This piece was the first I sat down and worked on in a while. (Note about me, I’m always creating, I can’t not create, except when I’m struggling with my depression). I started out with dark base layers, blacks blues purples. And slowly, layer by layer, lifted the piece into the brighter green foliage and northern lights -esque sky you see now. The red twisting shapes feel like love to me, always present, but sometimes feels lost, hidden, engulfed in all the heaviness of the world. I don’t always narrate my art because I feel that the power of art is in its subjectivity. But I share this to give a piece of me, and to let you know that you are not alone. Things might feel bleak. The news overwhelming. I hope you give yourself the care and grace you deserve to continue navigating through. You cannot pour from an empty cup. Take care of yourself.

Something new, a little different : imagery came to me while meditating, a spiral of growth/evolution/ascendance, embracing circularity, deconstructing linearity. Felt a bit spiritual, otherworldly 🌀💠🕯️

Happy rainy Sunday here in Tongva/Gabrielino land (LA)! Here’s a piece I made a few months ago ✨🌿🐟❇️🌱🤲🏼 💛 | acrylic, pastel, & a lil foil on stretched canvas | how does this piece make you feel? (a bit of a vent: IG STOP AUTO EDITING MY PHOTOS, they automatically overexpose and overbrighten my photos which is absolutely terrible and frustrating because it completely washes out my colors and details. Whenever I go in to edit the photos IG will automatically revert back to their shitty version. I eventually found a hack - upload when in low battery mode - but sheesh, this was annoying)

I am everything and nothing. A constant of change. I will wear this skin, this human robe, until I don’t. And that’s okay. Until then I will surrender to the Great Mystery within me, within you, within us. Tread softly, lead with grace, hold yourself with love. ||| some multimedia magic made with colored pencil, crayon, marker, pen, watercolor, gouache. There’s also some metallic watercolors that the camera didn’t pick up ✨

Push/pull 〰️💠〰️💠〰️💠 something colorful and gooey, a mindscape ocean, a candy landscape, pattern & movement, staccato rain & legato lines (plus some yum texture) [sold]

Something new 🕊️🪽🪶🪹 got a new paint palette from a friend and it’s kinda changing my painting game… highly recommend using a jewelry bead storage box as a sealable paint tray. Also trying to re-integrate texture in my paintings by digging back into my pastels. That’s all for now. Excited to complete and share more. 🫶🏼🌟✨

Freedom for P@lest!ne | I know the horror fatigue is real but that emotional labor and toll is a necessary fire for us all living in relative safety to hold onto, to continue fighting for the lives and rights of our fellow humans in occupied P@lest!ne. I know for a lot of my folks here, I’m preaching to the choir. Sure, geopolitics is complicated, but the erasure and re-writing of the current situation is intentional and strategic dismissal of the atrocities being carried out. Genocide in any cloak is still genocide.
